Celebrating everyday greatness with Help for Heroes light
Great British Stories on Channel 5 is about finding greatness where you least expect it, which made it a natural but demanding fit for Help for Heroes. The challenge wasn’t just awareness. It was earning the right to ask veterans to redefine what “greatness” really means: recovery, connection, and the quiet progress of everyday life.
Working with real veterans required more than an idea- it required trust. We took a documentary-first approach built around duty of care: time spent listening before filming, a deliberately small crew, no scripts, and the space for people to speak on their own terms. Direction became about restraint, creating an environment where openness felt safe, not forced.
We created ten 10” idents crafted closely with Paramount+ and Channel 5 to meet broadcast standards without losing the honesty at their core. The result was six months on air and on demand- and a platform that didn’t speak for veterans, but allowed them to be seen and tell their own Great British stories.
all things: built for real greatness
