Directed & conceived by our in-house director Pete Roe, Love England, Love Her follows one man’s alcohol-fuelled night watching England, seen entirely from inside his pint glass.

For Pete, like millions of fans, watching England should be one of the highlights of the summer. The hope. The tension. The glorious belief that this time might finally be the time. But beyond the excitement, there can be a much darker reality.

This was a proper passion project from the start. A chance to use our creativity and production craft to confront the rise in domestic abuse around major football tournaments – asking people to think about their own behaviour, notice what’s happening around them and look beyond the game.

Women’s Aid Ver

Under the all things originals banner, director Pete Roe made Love England, Love Her – a two-minute short inspired by Women’s Aid’s work around the rise in domestic abuse when England play.

The film follows one man’s alcohol-fuelled night watching the football, seen entirely from inside his pint glass. It begins with the familiar rituals of an England match, but as the glass empties, a darker picture comes into view.

This was a proper passion project. No brief, no client and not much budget. We called in a few favours, brought together some of our favourite collaborators and made the film on our own terms – because it was a story we wanted to tell and an issue we felt more people needed to see.

Then something brilliant happened. The film found its way to Women’s Aid and their agency, ELVIS. Together, we turned our original two-minute cut into a sharper 60-second version, released by Women’s Aid as part of its wider World Cup campaign.

A small film, made independently, became part of a much bigger conversation. Exactly what all things originals is here to do.
